The Philosophers' Club

“When you’re incarcerated you learn to appreciate the things that are free. Once when I was on the road squad I happened to look out the back of the transfer bus and I saw a hummingbird buzzing at window. First time in my life I’d ever seen a hummingbird close. We have the freedom to see in color, to see the diversity of things that God has created. To appreciate those things is to appreciate life. We are free.”
